At the Dr Challoner's Sports Department, we aim to create an enjoyable working environment for both staff and pupils where together we strive to actively engage in learning and improving.
Participation and achievement are measured and celebrated.
Whether you are looking for your daughter to be a regular team member of the school's top squads or to have the chance to participate for the first time in a team, our dedicated PE teachers and external coaches will give her every opportunity to shine and take part.
The ethos of the PE department is firmly embedded in the idea of every student being given the opportunity to develop their potential to the very best of their abilities. With this in mind, the girls receive coaching from experienced teachers, each with their own fields of expertise. All students get the opportunity to play in competitive matches, either through fixtures against other schools or through the inter-house competition system. The emphasis is always on enjoyment and we hope that the girls leave us with a love of sports participation which will stay with them throughout their life.
Our P.E lessons are very engaging, and our teachers introduce new sports to us in a fun way. We have been practicing our track and field skills. I thoroughly enjoy learning how to angle a javelin, so that it travels very far. We have also been honing our Zumba skills, and we got the chance to create our own routine and perform it to the class!! In gymnastics, beginners have been learning rolls, jumps and moving at different heights. No matter what the ability level is, everyone feels included. Hence, the participation is high.
